Alex's racing season set to start in August, as new Supercar Challenge calendar is published
Updated: Jun 4, 2020

As the Coronavirus pandemic has put a halt to almost all racing activities around the globe, the 2020 racing calendar has been one of the most unpredictable in living memory. This week, Supercar Challenge has published the revised racing calendar for this year, which is set to start in August, at Circuit Zolder. Alex Cascatău will race a Norma M20 FC with BSRacing together with Alain Berg (LUX) in the Dutch series. The duo will take part in the CN category of the GT & Prototype Challenge.
In the revised schedule, Alex will take part in a five-race championship which stretches to November, and spans across two countries and three different European venues. It will start where the Romanian driver left off in 2019, at Zolder in Belgium, and the sweet memories of the 24-hour race will still be fresh in his memory. Afterwards, a short trip to Holland will begin with two back-to-back meetings scheduled at TT Circuit Assen, a venue which Alex visited in 2018, in Formula Student, but didn't get to experience the full track. The first of these two meetings will be a support race to the prestigious DTM - the German touring car championship.
The highlight of the year will undoubtedly be race number four, set to be held at the freshly revamped Circuit Zandvoort. Impressive reworks have been carried out to make the track compliant to Formula 1 regulations and even though the Grand Prix will not be held in 2020, Alex will get his chance to sample a track he has admired over the years. The already traditional Hankook "Final Races" will mark the end of the championship in its third and final visit to Assen.
Alex is anxious to get back behind the wheel of a CN prototype as soon as possible: "I think the last couple of months have been very difficult for a lot of people, myself included. I hope that everybody managed to stay healthy and safe during these weird times, but I hope to be able to get back to the normal way of living as soon as possible. As restrictions gradually ease, I can't wait to get back racing and hope that the time I've used to train is going to be sufficient for this season. It sure hasn't been easy, but I'm still very motivated to push for good results together with Alain this season."
